We celebrated our seventh anniversary with an epic 14-course performance tasting dinner at Volver in Philadelphia. Check out our photos of the amazing meal.

We recently dined at Jose Garces’ new restaurant Volver to celebrate our (gulp) seventh anniversary.

As a disclosure, Daryl works for Garces Group, the company that owns Volver Restaurant. While it was an easy decision for us to choose Volver for our anniversary dinner, it would be difficult to express a totally unbiased opinion of the meal experience. So, as a service to our readers, we have decided to allow our pictures to speak for themselves.

The 14 course Performance Tasting Dinner (with an optional beverage pairing) at Volver is a ticketed affair – something unique to Philadelphia dining.

Daryl checked out the wine menu before we decided on the Beverage Pairing curated by sommelier Gordana Kostovski.

Volver is located in a dramatic, large windowed room on the first floor of the Kimmel Center in the heart of center city. The open kitchen gives all diners, including us, a front row view of the kitchen action.

  2. Would it be impolite to ask for 14 courses of carnitas popcorn? I’m pretty sure my wife and I could polish them off on our next anniversary! The culinary skill and creativity at Volver is quite impressive and I’m certain I’ll be dining there the next time I’m in Philly.

  3. I’ve eaten at two of Chef Garces other restaurants, Amada and Tinto, and loved both my meals but Volver looks like a totally different realm. I’ll definitely have to visit on my next trip to Philly!. PS.I also had the Hidalgo La Gitana Amontillado Sherry at Amada and it completely changed my thoughts on sherry- what complex flavors!

  10. Great photos! I think the squid with the green curry-coconut tapioca would have been my favorite, but everything looks fantastic.
