Information We Collect
In the past 12 months, we have collected these categories of personal information:
- Identifiers: IP address, cookie IDs, browser storage IDs, advertising IDs and your email address if you subscribe to our newsletter.
- Internet or Network Activity: pages viewed, links clicked, taps and scrolls, referring site and time on site.
- Approximate Location: general location based on your IP address.
- Inferences: interest categories that advertising partners create for ad targeting.
- Comments: previously submitted reader comments, with the name, email address and IP address that came with them.
We collect this information from you directly, from your browser or device, and from our service providers, advertising partners and affiliate partners. We use it to run and secure the Site, analyze traffic, send our newsletter, earn affiliate commissions and show ads. We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined under California law.
We share personal information with these categories of recipients: analytics providers (Google Analytics), our advertising partner (Raptive) and its partners, our email provider (Substack), affiliate programs and networks (including Amazon Associates, Impact, Stay22 and Viator) and our hosting and security provider (Cloudflare). Until October 8, 2026, we also shared information with Mediavine through its Grow sign-up tool. Until October 4, 2026, we also shared information with Travelpayouts through its Drive affiliate script. Both are described below.
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for these purposes. Newsletter subscriber information is kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics, advertising and affiliate data are kept according to each provider’s retention settings.
Our Use of Cookies
A cookie is a small file containing an identifier (a string of letters and numbers) that a website sends to your browser and that your browser sends back each time you visit. We and our partners use cookies, pixels and similar technologies for these purposes:
- Advertising: to display ads, including ads based on your interests, and to measure ad performance.
- Analysis: to understand how visitors use the Site and how it performs.
- Affiliate Tracking: to convert links into affiliate links and track referrals so we can earn commissions.
We use Google Analytics to analyze Site traffic. Google’s privacy policy is available here.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Instructions are available for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge. Blocking cookies may affect how the Site works.
Advertising
CMI Marketing, Inc., d/b/a Raptive (“Raptive”) is a service provider of this Site for the purposes of placing advertising on the Site, and Raptive will collect and use certain data for advertising purposes. To learn more about Raptive’s data usage, click here.
Under some US state privacy laws, giving this information to advertising partners for targeted advertising may count as a “sale” of personal information or “sharing” it for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can opt out as described in “Your US State Privacy Rights” below.
Raptive treats a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as a request to opt out of personalized advertising and the sale or sharing of your information.
Email Addresses
We collect your email address only when you give it to us, for example when you subscribe to our newsletter or enter a promotion. We use it to send the emails you signed up for and occasional emails about the Site. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email.
Comments
We no longer accept comments on 2foodtrippers.com. We keep comments that readers submitted in the past, along with the name, email address and IP address that came with each one. To have your comment deleted, email us at [email protected].
Grow by Mediavine
We stopped using Grow, a service of Mediavine, Inc., on October 8, 2026. Before that date, we used Grow for newsletter sign-up forms and reader features on the Site. When you subscribed through a Grow form or used Grow features, Mediavine collected your email address and information about your use of the Site. Mediavine may have used this information, including a hashed version of your email address, for interest-based advertising. Mediavine’s data practices are described in its Privacy Notice. You can send an email to [email protected] to make a request about information Mediavine holds.
Newsletters
We send our newsletter through Substack. Substack’s privacy policy governs how it handles subscriber information. When you subscribe, your email address goes directly to Substack. Our newsletters may contain ads and use tracking pixels that tell us when an email is opened and which links are clicked. We use this information to improve our newsletter.
Affiliate Program Participation
We participate in affiliate programs and networks, including the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, Impact, Stay22 and Viator. When you click an affiliate link, the affiliate partner may use cookies or similar technologies to track the referral so we can earn a commission. We do not receive your purchase or payment details.
Stay22 runs a script on every page of the Site. We use Stay22’s LetMeAllez service to convert some travel links into affiliate links. When a page loads, the Stay22 script receives information including your IP address, the full page URL, the referring page, your language and your browser and device type. Stay22 uses your IP address to estimate your approximate location and as one of several signals to create a pseudonymous identifier. The script stores this identifier in your browser’s local storage and reuses it across page loads. Stay22 deletes it after 90 days without activity. The script also receives limited interaction signals, such as clicks, taps and, on some mobile pages, scrolls. Stay22 does not share this information with booking partners unless you click a travel link. If you click one, Stay22 redirects you to the booking partner, which may set its own cookies. See Stay22’s privacy and cookie policy. To the extent this counts as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under US state law, you can opt out as described in “Your US State Privacy Rights” below.
Until October 4, 2026, we used Travelpayouts’ Drive script to convert some travel links into affiliate links. The script received your IP address, browser information, page URLs, session identifiers and your interactions with Travelpayouts tools. Travelpayouts uses this information for its own purposes as an independent business. See Travelpayouts’ privacy policy. To the extent this counted as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under US state law, you can opt out as described in “Your US State Privacy Rights” below.
Cloudflare
We use Cloudflare for Site security and caching. Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address to protect the Site and deliver pages quickly. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Your US State Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use and disclose, and access a copy of it.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Delete personal information we collected from you.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, targeted advertising and profiling.
- Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
These rights apply to residents of California and of other states with comparable consumer privacy laws.
How to Opt Out: Email [email protected] with “Do Not Sell or Share” in the subject line.
How to Make other Requests: Email [email protected]. We will verify your request by confirming information you have given us, such as your email address. You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. We may ask the agent for proof of your written permission.
Appeals: If we deny your request, you may appeal by emailing [email protected] with “Privacy Appeal” in the subject line. We will respond within the time the law in your state requires. If you disagree with the outcome, you may contact your state attorney general.
Nevada Residents
We do not sell covered information as “sale” is defined under Nevada law (the exchange of covered information for monetary consideration for the recipient to license or sell it to others). We may share information with service providers as described in this policy.
Visitors in the European Economic Area and the UK
2FT Media LLC is the controller of personal information collected on the Site. We process personal information on these legal bases: your consent (for advertising and analytics cookies, where required), our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Site, and performance of our agreement with you when you subscribe to our newsletter. You may withdraw consent at any time through the cookie settings on the Site.
You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive a copy of it in a portable format. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To make a request, email [email protected].
Our service providers may process your information in the United States and other countries. Where required, these transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
Sensitive Personal Information
Please do not send us sensitive personal information, such as your Social Security number, information about racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, health, criminal background or trade union membership.
Children’s Information
The Site is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email [email protected] and we will delete it.
Sale of Business or Assets
If we sell the Site or its assets, or merge with another business, the information we have collected may be one of the assets transferred.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy by posting a new version on this page with a new “Last Updated” date. We review it at least once a year. Your continued use of the Site after we post changes means you accept the updated policy.
