Khao Kha Moo from the Cowboy Hat Lady in Chiang Mai Thailand

Call her what you want – the “cowboy hat lady” or the “lady in the cowboy hat”. She’s out every night at the Chiang Mai Chang Phuak night market near the Chang Phuak (a/k/a Elephant) Gate, arguably making her a culinary celebrity in Thailand.

Boldly wearing her signature headpiece and wielding a cleaver, she serves up some of the tastiest Thai food you can eat for 30 baht or just under a dollar. We’re talking succulent stewed pork leg over rice served with an egg and flavorful sides like pickled mustard greens and garlic chili sauce.

This price could change at any time. However, it would still be a bargain at triple the price.

Khao Kha Moo Chang Phuak is located by the North Gate at Thanon Manee Nop Parat, Amphoe Mueang, Chiang Mai, Thailand.
