Nashville is a necessary stop on any U.S. road trip that spans the country from coast to coast.

Dubbed Music City, Tennessee’s capital offers musical attractions like Ryman Auditorium, the Country Music Hall of Fame, and a seemingly endless number of local clubs. This city is a great destination due to these essential attractions as well as a full range of IHG hotels in Nashville at all price points.

When visiting the city, in addition to music, you’ll also find lots of great food ranging from Southern comfort food to cutting-edge cuisine. Due to the city’s location in the American south, most restaurants in Nashville serve their food with sides of warm hospitality and glasses of sweet iced tea.

There’s no better place to try this dish than Prince’s Hot Chicken Shack. If you can’t make it to Prince’s, the creator of Nashville’s most famous food, local joints like Pepperfire Hot Chicken and Hattie B’s Hot Chicken are worthy alternatives.

Biscuit Love

Unlike sweet biscuits in England — which we call cookies in America — biscuits in the Southern U.S. are savory quick breads, similar to scones and prepared with a prodigious amount of butter. Of all the things to eat in Nashville, biscuits very well may be our favorite.

After you eat a Biscuit, explore more iconic American food favorites you need to eat at least once in your life.

Biscuit Love takes these humble calorie busters to new levels with a modern menu featuring proteins like hot chicken, sausage, and burger patties to go with the buttery biscuits. Don’t miss their signature ‘bonuts’ topped with lemon mascarpone and blueberry compote.

The original Biscuit Love is located at 316 11th Avenue S, Nashville, TN 37203, USA.

We had never eaten cronuts at Dominique Ansel Bakery, despite multiple visits to the famous New York City temple of baked goods prior to our visit to Nashville. We made up for this omission when we visited Five Daughters Bakery.

This popular Nashville bakery serves 100-layer donuts that rank favorably among the best donuts in the country. The bakery also sells vegan and paleo donuts to health-conscious customers who don’t want to miss out on the donut fun.

Five Daughters Bakery has multiple locations. We visited the location at 1110 Caruthers Avenue, Nashville, TN 37204, USA.

Important Update – Sweet 16th Bakery has permanetly closed.

Located in East Nashville, Sweet 16th Bakery serves a selection of baked goods like scones, muffins, cakes, and cookies. However, the bakery’s vegetarian-friendly breakfast sandwich is the star of the show.

True thrill-seekers can ramp up the fun by trying the bakery’s popular Elvis cake flavored with bananas and peanut butter. As for us, we’re sticking with the breakfast biscuit. It’s an American sandwich icon.

That line cracked me up! Nothing new or modern about putting chicken on a biscuit in the south.
