Soon after my plane landed in Dublin, I was invited to join a dinner later that evening at Bang Restaurant with fellow bloggers, Susan (VibrantIreland) and Suzanne (PhilaTravelGirl). Of course I said yes to the opportunity for good company, not to mention the chance to check out the local, seasonal food prepared by Chef Phil Yeung.
The meal provided me with a good introduction to Dublin’s dynamic farm-to-table restaurant culture. I could even see where all the ingredients were sourced just by looking at the menu.
Bang Restaurant Tasting Menu
Since the restaurant offered a special deal to TBEX attendees, I jumped on the five-course tasting menu (discounted to 39.95 Euros from the normal 69 Euros) to get a cross-section of the local cuisine. Here’s what I was served:
I appreciate that the food was locally sourced, though the wedge of Comté cheese and the glass of 2007 Chateau Puy Castera Haut Medoc Bordeaux were two exceptions to this rule.
Full and happy after the meal, I was glad to have started my Dublin visit with a culinary bang.
Bang Restaurant is located at 11 Merrion Row Dublin 2, Ireland.
